President of USA impresst on message from Medjugorje

In Janice Connell's book, "The Visions of the Children", there is an interesting historical note regarding a message from Medjugorje visionary, Marija Pavlovic, which was delivered to President Reagan during a meeting at the White House with Russian President Gorbachev on Dec. 8, 1987.

Here is the account as it appeared in Janice Connell's book:

Message to President Reagan from Marija Pavlovic. The following was translated from the Croatian newspaper, Sveta Bastina, February 1988 issue; transcribed from Medjugorje Herald, vol.2, no. 6 -- Mary's Room M R-18, 12/88.

"Dear President Reagan:

"God's Holy Mother is appearing each day in this small village of Medjugorje, Yugoslavia. She is giving us a message of peace. We know your concern for world peace and are remembering you in our prayers each day. You are very close to our hearts and we want you to know that you can count on our prayers and sacrifices to help you in your great task.

"Our Holy Mother has said that with prayer and fasting wars can be avoided. May her message help you and her daily visits be a sign to you of God's loving concern for His people.

"United in prayer, and in the Heart of Jesus and Mary we send our love and greet you with the peace of the Queen of Peace. Marija Pavlovic"

[End of Letter]

In 1987 the American ambassador for Middle Europe, Alfred H. Kingon, stayed in Medjugorje for two weeks. The reason for his coming to Medjugorje was to pray for his sick son and give thanks for receiving God's graces. He accepted the messages of Medjugorje, so he regularly fasts and prays a lot. During his stay he had a meeting with the visionary, Marija Pavlovic. Just before he returned to America in a special spiritual atmosphere there was created an opinion that it would be very convenient to send over with him a spiritual peace message for President Reagan. Sincerely delighted, Kingon, Reagan's ambassador, said
that he would deliver the message to the president as soon as he returned to the White House.

The message was written by Marija Pavlovic and translated into English by Kathleen Parisod. This message was given to President Reagan just before his meeting with the Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev when the contract about destroying intermediate missiles had been signed.

On December 8, 1987, the White House made a phone call to Marija at 7:00 p.m. Parisod translated the conversation. Ambassador Kingon was the one who called, and in the very beginning of the conversation he said that President Reagan himself wanted to talk with Marija; but it was impossible because the meeting with Gorbachev was still going on. During the conversation Kingon confirmed that he, himself, gave Marija's message to the president and that Reagan was delighted with the message. Kingon emphasized that after the president read the message he cried out: "Now, with a new spirit I am going to the meeting with Gorbachev."

The same night the White House tried to call Marija but could not get through. On December 14, 1987, Kingon sent Marija a letter in which he encouraged her to send a peace message to Gorbachev. He assured her that the American ambassador, Jack Matlock, would give it to the secretary of the Russian leader. He also added that it would be beautiful if two great leaders and the two greatest countries would find out about her prayer and Our Lady's messages. Finally on Christmas Day Marija received a picture of Ronald Reagan under which was written: "To Marija Pavlovic -- With my heartfelt thanks and every good wish. God bless you. Sincerely, Ronald Reagan."
